The client approached Carmatec with the requirement of developing a one-off mobile application for Ganeshotsav, which would be positioned as India’s first one-stop destinations for everything that the audience needs to know about celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi every year. With this app, one touch would enable its user to scroll and explore the wide world of Ganpati, offering multiple mandap locations, events keeping them engrossed in the colors of Ganpati Bappa, One Festive guide for all their needs (from Ganpati Aarti, Decorations, Ganpati Matra, Modak recipes to Fashion Fun), along with numerous visarjan points around the city. Not just this! The merriment is doubled with some amazingly fun, in-app contests for each day to mark the 11 days long festive carnival. The Ganeshotsav app would let the user enjoy the festival fever in an effortless manner from the comfort of their homes – just a touch away!

Business Requirement

Considering the demand in the market, the client came up with a vision to develop a one-stop application (mobile) for the public have access to all the information (Pandals, Idol shopping, Events, Clothes, Gift, etc. ) they needed during Ganesh Festival.

The objective of building the application was three-fold:

Information – The app was meant to give complete information about the mandaps, events, Visarjan details and celebrity details of specific event or mandaps etc, In one place the users could find all the information about ganesha festival which would happen in mumbai and pune.

Convenience – Users don’t need to struggle anymore to find the nearby events, mandaps or visarjan details etc. It gives them the nearest details first then it will display all other details, so the end users can just use the app to see the required details saving a lot of time.

Engagement – This gives facility for end users to participate in multiple contests which are happening in Pune & Mumbai, they can take a selfie and upload those pics in the app, at the end of the contest the users can also win the best prizes offered by the client. The users can ‘check in’ using the app, when they visit any mandap.

Solution Offered

Carmatec has developed a bilingual (English & Marathi) native mobile application while providing different systems for Customer and Admin. The mobile App will work in sync with the web application to give a seamless interaction to the users. Customers can download the mobile app from play store and further signup/login using form or social media accounts such as Facebook and Google. After login on landing page the user can view the list of events, mandaps, festive guide, visarjans and contest details etc and will have option to click on one to view its detail and further add his own ratings & reviews.

One of the Key Highlight of the project was that despite being assigned at just a few days before the festival, , we successfully rolled it out just before the Ganesha Festival. We were asked to build the mobile app including admin in just a month time. The mobile app development team did a tremendous job to complete the project within the stipulated one month while handling the rigorous schedule efficiently.

Using the expedient app, the users can access the modules mentioned below:

  • Mandaps: Customer will be able to view the nearby pandals and will have option to click one and view details such as name, address, image gallery, Pooja timings etc.
  • Contests: Customer will be able to view the list of contests added by admin and will have option to participate by sharing their selfie pic and content related to it.
  • Notifications: Customer will be able to view the notifications he has received related to pandals, Pooja timings, etc.
  • My Profile: Here he will be able to view and edit his personal details.
  • Other pages: Here he will be able to view content related to About Ganeshotsav, About Ganeshotsav App, Transport and Emergency Numbers.
  • Contact Us: Here he will view the contact details and will have option to fill contact form, on submission of which email will go to admin.


In the span of 48 hours time, 10000+ installs happend after launching the app to the end users. The avg rating from the end users is 4.5, and no escalations from any customers.
